Lead Electrical Testing & Commissioning Engineer

Location: St. Louis, Missouri/Remote


Job description:

We are looking for a Lead Testing and Commissioning Engineer who can take ownership of substation testing and commissioning, support clients and lead project teams, as well as reinforce ArchPoint’s standards for quality, safety, and clear communication.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform acceptance and commission testing on high/medium-voltage and related electrical equipment, supporting troubleshooting, and producing clear documentation onsite
  • Lead and perform electrical testing and commissioning activities on power equipment and systems: transformers, breakers, relays, CTs, PTs/CCVTs, switchgear, cables, grounding systems, batteries, and DC systems
  • Lead and Perform P&C testing. This includes relay testing, CT/PT Sec Injection, functionals, load checks, end to end and RTU testing
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and support safe startup, commissioning and energization activities
  • Document results and prepare clear test reports
  • Coordinate daily field activities with internal teams and client stakeholders to keep projects moving
  • Follow ArchPoint safety and quality standards in the field every day
  • Review test results, field documentation, and final reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level testing staff
  • Support project planning, outage coordination, schedule needs, and resource planning as required


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical testing and commissioning experience in utility, industrial or power generation
  • Experience leading field crews or coordinating testing activities
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and comfort working in the field
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Experience with test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, Fluke, or similar equipment
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E and electrical safety practices
  • Ability to interface directly with clients and lead field discussions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of testing and follow through 
  • Growth mindset and coachability, you want to learn and get better
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering - Preferred(or related field)
